Come take a leap of faith with us and give God another chance...just because some followers have hurt you, doesn't mean we all will.
No matter WHO you are, or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here!
The beauty and mystery of the faith you remember, without the rejection and judgment you can't forget.

Carla Cheatham was born in Northeast Texas; pursued advanced degrees in psychology, theology, and health and kinesiology; has worked in social services in direct care and as an administrator; and is currently a a hospice chaplain and pastor of Creative Spirit. She got the idea of starting a progressive faith community about two years ago and is excited to be working to create a spiritual home where all can feel welcomed and grow!
Creative Spirit is a community of faith that values:
Love more than judgment
People have enough guilt in their lives and fear that "church" equals condemnation. We embrace people as they are and let the Holy Spirit take care of any changes they need to make.

Diversity more than unanimity
All persons are made in the Creator's image and all have unique gifts to offer because of their age, ability, ethnicity, race, gender, politicals, sexual orientation and/or theology.

Dialogue more than dogma
Faith communities should model respectful dialogue, striving to understand, speaking our truth in love, sharing our journey even when we disagree and together seeking life-giving answers.

Solidarity more than "saving"
Our focus is on making a difference in our community, standing with others to challenge unjust systems and liberating oppressors as well as the oppressed.
We're not your grandparents' church...
(BUT they're welcome, too!)

Jesus was a radical hippy who PISSED PEOPLE OFF!  He went out to the margins, empowered the oppressed, transformed their oppresors, and challenged us to a faith that breaks all the rules.  We wanna be more like him!
